Infrastructure

There are 3,386km of railroads which are narrow gauge and single track. There are 75,450km of highways of which 9,350km are paved; and 14,300km of inland waterways which are navigable by river boats. The pipeline network includes 3,585km for crude oil, 1,350km for petroleum products, 830km for natural gas and 125km for natural gas liquids. The country is served by seven principal ports – Barranquilla, Buenaventura, Cartagena, Covenas, San Andrés (a free port), Santa Marca, Tumaco. There are 1,059 usable airports of which 69 have permanent runways; one has a runway of 3,659m and nine have runways of 2,440 to 3,659m. The telecommunications system is fair.
